Slide background

In the Netherlands, the economically and societally highly relevant Built Environment sector is academically represented by faculties from Delft Univeristy of Technology, Eindhoven University of Technology, Wageningen University and Research Centre and University of Twente. Once a year, academics from these institutions meet each other, and collectively connect to the relevant industry and society at large. To share inspiration, experiences and ideas, and to jointly formulate approaches towards the challenges ahead.

Therefore, building on past successes like the yearly meetings of ‘Onderzoeksschool Bouw’, the conference Research to Reality will be organised on Wednesday 30 November 2016, under auspices of 4TU.Bouw.

The first part of the day is exclusively for researchers from the four Technical Universities, while they jointly outreach to industrial, governmental and other stakeholders in the afternoon.

Prior to Research to Reality, a selected group of Lighthouse Projects 2017 ‘candidates’ and researchers with entrepreneurial ambitions will participate in a ‘Pre-Conference Bootcamp’ that prepares them ‘in a pressure cooker’-like way for the public sessions at Research to Reality, working on ‘pitching & presenting’ as well as on funding and business.

At the end of the conference a number of ‘Lighthouse Project proposals’ will be granted, both by industry and 4TU.Bouw.

After the conference a book will be published, containing an overview of all participating academic research projects and developments.
